UConn Pearl Harbor Day: Ann Coulter, Jorgensen Auditorium, 7 pm
Conservative Ann Coulter will speak tonight at the University of Connecticut [Doors open at 5:30, no bags permitted, event starts at 7 pm, Jorgensen Auditorium], sponsored by the UCONN College Republicans and paid from a foundation grant and student activity funds. The event has proven quite controversial, forcing the College Republicans to pen an op-ed in today's edition of the student newspaper. Anti-war activist (and OYE member) Cindy Sheehan spoke December 5 and was also paid from student activity funds.
So why doesn't someone ask Ann Coulter a real question: You're speaking on campuses to support conservatism; why haven't you urged College Republicans and Young Republicans to volunteer for military service to Support The President, like, now? Especially on Pearl Harbor Day.
And don't forget the UCONN College Republicans. Their meeting minutes indicate that, this semester, they've discussed the Iraq War just once (Sept. 27) and also fundraising for the children of the soldiers [not "our soldiers," just "the soldiers"] fighting in the war (Aug. 30). Is that the best you can do?
Be a Man! Enlist! Remember Pearl Harbor! Remember September 11th! Or, at least come up with a better Chickenhawk excuse.
