Glass House Owner Throws Stones

Recently OYE highlighted Senator Obama's missed opportunity to call on eligible Americans to serve Our Country by joining the Military. Conservative pundit Bill Kristol (seen above sampling a pie) also called him on it:
But there’s one obvious path of service Obama doesn’t recommend — or even mention: military service. He does mention war twice: “At a time of war, we need you to work for peace.” And, we face “big challenges like war and recession.” But there’s nothing about serving your country in uniform.

What's odd (hypocritical) is Mr. Kristol has yet to use his influence to encourage his strong supporters to Be A Man! Enlist!

As Atrios noted:
Bill Kristol has quite a few prominent platforms. He can get himself on the teevee when he wants, he has a magazine, he has a column in the now mostly ridiculous New York Times op-ed page. He has had, over the past several years, hundreds of opportunities to make a plea to his young conservative readers to join the military. It's possible he's done this at some point, but this is one of those things I've paid attention to and I've never seen it. In fact, I've never noticed any prominent conservative person or outlet encouraging people to join the military. Again, perhaps they have, but I have paid attention to this issue and haven't seen it.

On this Monday morning, what does Billy K use his prominent platform for? A call to service? Of course not. He uses it to criticize Barack Obama for what he himself has long failed to do.

OYE Comment: E-mail Mr. Kristol and request that he ask his eligible readers to consider the path he avoided- Military Service.

Apples and oranges, and Wek, a hypocrite who avoided military service himself, knows it. Obama wants to be commander in chief of our military forces. Kristol is merely a pundit. That's quite a difference,

Yeah... if anything, the hypocrisy is in criticizing Bill Kristol for making the same exact same point OYE made a few days prior. But I guess a lowly civilian isn't allowed to make the same observation.

And really, there's a difference between providing commentary on current events, and giving life advice to a large group of young people. The latter is a far more appropriate place to suggest military service.

I served 8 years in the military, and I think it is a disgrace that the people who run this site are such pussies that they are critical of others while their pussy asses never served.

You guys haven't the first clue about military serves, and you don't have a clue about being real men either!

"Obama wants to be commander in chief of our military"

Isn't it fantastic that our founding fathers specifically did NOT include language in the constitution that requires the President to have served in the military. In fact, the only thing you have to be is old enough.

Oh, I'm a 6-year Navy Vet anonymous and I have a clue about military service.

Thats a negative there devilnuts. Many a luker here have had their ass on the line (in actual combat, not the "rough" barracks life of Quantico like tough guy Gro--never seen combat but likes to fck over the troops--enhagen).

We just point out the fact that it sure would be helpful if these chickhawks would actually help a brother out so that guys (and gals) don't have to do three tours in 5 years (not exactly voluntarily btw). Too much to ask? Well it is when asking the America hating hypocrisy filled republican chicken hawks.

Another clueless right wing troll.
