Army General Joins Operation Yellow Elephant (sort of)

[Slightly OT, but very much in the Spirit of Operation Yellow Elephant]

Fred Kaplan wrote in the Aug. 26, 2007, New York Times Magazine an article critical of Major General Jeffery W. Hammond, who commands Fort Hood, TX, specifically concerning Hammond's comments on an excellent article by LTC Paul Yingling on general officer leadership. Here's how MG Hammond concluded his response:

Kaplan was invited to visit the Fourth Infantry Division and see for himself our leadership climate: Mission-Soldier-Family-Team. Or better yet, he could always join us in Baghdad in December.

Jeffery W. Hammond

Major General, U.S. Army

Commanding

Fourth Infantry Division

Fort Hood, Tex.
