Houston Councilman Now Seeks Counseling

Michael Berry needs to hire are a more skilled screener for his right wing radio show. The City Councilman from Houston couldn't seem to find the release button when a caller verbally pants' him. When asked to enlist Mr. Berry stuttered and stammered "Uhhhh, you know. I just hadn't enlisted." He sounded like the frequent O.Y.E. commenter 'Mr. X' might if he were on the show Jeopardy. The caller pressed on: "If you shoot your mouth off you should be able to shoot a gun."

Rawstory has the scoop here (and a huge hat tip to them as well).

If you're an accomplished call screener (or a Military Recruiter or a concerned citizen that wants our President's strongest supporters to Be A Man! Enlist!) drop Mr. Berry an E-mail as he could use you.

I am going to guess that the caller, just like Karl and Erik, has never enlisted either. These anti-war kooks are complete hypocrites!

This story was posted by Erik Wekerle, a 35 year old "man" who refuses to serve in the military himself. Hey pot, meet kettle!

If you look at the membership for this blog it is pretty dismal. The anti-OYE people should stop coming here. This is what they thrive on. No one else is listening to their wacko opinions.

Send Erik Wekerle an email at the13thgeneration@gmail.com. Encourage him to Be A Man! Enlist! Maybe the encouragement would help him get over his fears!

I was reading some old posts on this blog. It is interesting to see that Nathan Taylor was criticize for saying he did not serve because of a medical condition, but when you press the OYE people they ALL say they couldn't serve for "medical reasons." Is being a coward now considered a medical condition?

As I have to assume all you true blue American liberal patriots are currently serving in a war you support -- namely, Afghanistan -- I want to thank you sincerely for your heroism on the front lines.

God speed to you all, and God protect you.

PS, I saw eight Taliban were killed today. Was that you guys?!!?! If so -- you have the thanks of a grateful nation.

PPS, how's the internet service in Kabul? Spotty I hear. But you guys seem to have no problems posting. Do you have some kind of Special Forces satellite uplink or something?

Are you guys SEALs? Would you be allowed to say if you were? Probably not. Okay, I got you. You're not SEALs. (wink, wink)

We certainly didn't criticize Nathan Taylor for his medical condition that made him ineligible to serve.

We didn't have to; there was plenty of other material.

I'm sure all you anonymous patriot bombthrowers are posting your comments from Iraq. Remember - we didn't want this war - you did! You should be cheering it on close up.

Come on now...this ultra-maroon thinks "council" can be made into a verb, and that "apostrophe" is merely the name of an old frank Zappa album.

How well do you think he'd do with an M-16?

Plus, he'd probably catch a lot of ribbing since I don't think they let you wear Depends in boot camp.

blogenfreude,

I posted one of those comments. I posted from here in the USA. However, before you start pointing your finger at me; I served in Iraq during the Gulf War, and I have the lifelong back problem to prove it.

You see Mr. blogenfreude, Republicans like me are always fighting these wars that allow idiots like you to have free speech.

If you have not forgotten, Al-Qaeda attacked us on our own soil. That's who we are fighting in Iraq, Al-Qaeda. In case you missed the new flash, we already defeated Saddam Hussein--a terrorist in his own right--and the ba'athist. If we were not fighting them over there, they surely would be fighting us over here. Thanks to one of the greatest Presidents in our history, George W. Bush, America has been safe for all of us since 9/11.

What we are doing is the right thing to do, and we are winning! Thank God anti-war idiots didn't have control the media and have blogs in the Revolutionary War. If they did, they would have a case to argue that we were in a much worse war and a less just position to fight for our freedom.

I notice on blogenfreude's site that he like Republican scandals, but refuses to expose the many Democrat scandals. People like blogenfreude have no credibility. I will be the first to cut down a Republican OR a Democrat for doing something wrong. blogenfreude is just a kool-aid drinker.

Yellow Jackass logic:

I shouldn't serve in war I support unless you serve in a war you don't support.

Thank you for your service to our country.

I assume you will join with us in urging those non-veterans eligible to serve, who agree with you, at least to consider volunteering for military service, right?

Or are we missing something here, and, in that case, what, exactly?

At 20 July, 2007 22:22, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anon - thanks for your service. I'm in my mid-forties - too old. When I was of age, there wasn't a war to fight. A Republican wasn't in office and, as you might be aware, Democrats don't tend to start wars, especially wars with sovereign nations that pose no threat to us.

And please - I've made cash-in-the-freezer jokes with the best of them. I don't blog it because I have a different focus, but I certainly agree that Jefferson should resign. So should Vitter. I was pleased when Jefferson lost his committee post.

What you have to get, although you might not want to, is that the Iraq war is a Republican war. Sure Democrats voted for the AUMF, but the idea was that your Dear Leader would get another UN resolution. The reality is that Bush had decided to attack Iraq before he took the oath of office. Another reality is that Bush lied about the intelligence ... Colin Powell did the same or was duped. This war is not defensive, it's merely stupid. Thus we politely suggest that, if you were a cheerleader for the war (especially if you're a College Republican), you might want to consider grabbing a gun and shooting at whoever the enemy is this week. You use your army when you have to, not just because you have one.

My country when she is right, my country to be made right when she is wrong. Think about it.

The houston city councilman has supprted this war in Iraq. Has organized and spoke at pro-war rallies. He has pumped his fist for this war, yet he refuses to fight.

He has no kids and is term limited, yet you think he would join and fight?

Ace-
I heard you on with Hugh Hewitt some time ago. Hugh never mentioned that you are a veteran which surprised me since he's a renowned 'military groupie'. Nonetheless Our Country does appreciate you defending us from that 'eagle figurine'.

War is a Racket.

Perhaps instead of attempting to score metaphysical points with your Freeper friends by cowardly anonymous posts on a blog the war supporters could try reading Smedley Buter or Mark Twain's comments on the Philippine Insurrection:
I said to myself, here are a people who have suffered for three centuries. We can make them as free as ourselves, give them a government and country of their own, put a miniature of the American constitution afloat in the Pacific, start a brand new republic to take its place among the free nations of the world. It seemed to me a great task to which we had addressed ourselves.

But I have thought some more, since then, and I have read carefully the treaty of Paris, and I have seen that we do not intend to free, but to subjugate the people of the Philippines. We have gone there to conquer, not to redeem.

The Iraq "War" has always been about money, the money to be gained from the ME and the money to be siphoned off from the american tax system (3 Trillion to the DoD in the last 6 years another Trillion for 2008).

But, the real problem is there are those who from the comfort of their homes will attack people who are anti-war. But it has always been thus:
You can always hear the people who are willing to sacrifice somebody else's life. They're plenty loud and they talk all the time.

From Mr. X:
I've said before that I will be enlisting. There's no two ways about it. I enjoy freedoms I have not yet earned. When i graduate from College, i will enlist. I will fight for, defend and earn the freedoms i enjoy.

I post here because you're intellectually backwards in your approach to encouraging people to enlist. There are many ways to earn the freedoms we enjoy. A life of service to one's community in some capacity is more than adequate. I chose the military because my family has a long history of military service.

To: Mr. X

Why are you enlisting after college? why not go officer? Are you going to enjoy being treated as a second class citizen as an unwashed enlisted?

How long of an enlistment do you plan to go for; 4,5,6 years active? Or less? What MOS are you aiming for? Airwing, Arty, Motor T, Box kicker, Intel, Rifleman?

What Branch?

Do you eat healthy now? Are you going back to crappy college-esque cafeteria style food again?

grung-e-gene-

Thank you for your comments. I think that Mr. X used the term "enlisting" in a general sense, and thus your identifying specific opportunities makes sense.

That said, since I'm unaware of when he plans to complete college, some of the more specific questions may not have answers at this time.

We certainly welcome his interest in military service, and his feedback to us on how to improve our approaches to potential prospects.

I guess there's one YR from that video who needs to start eating healthy right now.

Mr. X-

Please take a look at www dot armyocs dot com. If you are a college graduate you are eligible to become an officer.

This is a privately-sponsored discussion board that comes highly recommended. Thank you.

Something that poster "ace" misses is that there is no way for the potential liberal enlistee to specify he/she will only serve in Afghanistan and not Iraq. You go where the military tells you, not your conscience.
