It's Time to Repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"

Operation Yellow Elephant supports ongoing efforts to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" as the best immediately available way to enhance military readiness. Momentum to "Lift the Ban" is growing, especially given the estimated 58 Arabic linguists discharged under "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" since 9/11/2001.

Political Yellow Elephants lack the courage to do the political right thing, which means asking other people to do the right thing themselves. Personal credibility [e.g., military service] can help, but true leadership is necessary. Here's three ways political Yellow Elephants hurt America:

(1) They are afraid to encourage those eligible to serve who support the war to Be A Man! Enlist!, because they don't want to ask anyone to sacrifice anything, even by volunteering to do so;

(2) They are afraid to support repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," even though a dozen real gay and lesbian veterans are now suing in Federal Court in Boston to return to the Global War on Terrorism. OK, so you are not personally interested in serving, but how can you tell real veterans that their service was a mistake? Seriously.

(3) Nobody, except for Operation Yellow Elephant, is even encouraging heterosexuals to Be A Man! Enlist! Here's the proof: DraftHeterosexuals.com

It's clearly up to the leadership of the Republican Party to show some backbone. The absolute minimum requirement is supporting the right to serve of every qualified volunteer patriotic Real American our military needs.

And that's not limited to heterosexuals.

This little meme is nothing more than a ploy to stifle debate

You don't have to be a cop to support the police

You don't have to be an architect to support bridges

YOU be a man, YOU enlist, or haven't you heard of leading by example??

BTW....Where'd YOU serve?

Be a man, enlist.

You cant very well ask people to do something you yourself wont do now, can you?

Anon 05:06,

It's no use, the meme is already out, LOL! "Chickenhawk roosting" signs are being posted all over campuses, college Republicans will be teased and mocked until these young cowards and war cheerleaders shut up and enlist, at which point the war will end because members of Congress won't put lil' Johnny Trustfund in danger.

Maybe college Republicans think war is a burden to be shouldered only by the lower classes. Maybe that's why they are so confused when you ask them to make a personal sacrifice.

I am a straight friend of a gay shipmate. This person does their job proficiently, professionally and loves being in the service.

However this person also lives in the shadow of fear that if they area discovered that they will be forced out of the service they so love.

This person counts everyday until they have their 20 year mark, then they are "safe", as in their retirement is guaranteed. Until that 20 year mark if they are discharged they will receive nothing for all their years of faithful service.

Sorry, I'm too old; back in the day, they didn't want me. That's why the Army told me I could best help by encouraging younger people to Be A Man! Enlist!

anonymous (23:00)-

The Army told me that I could best help them to Defend Our Nation by encouraging qualified [i.e., younger] American Patriots to consider military service.

Jesus' General founded Operation Yellow Elephant and recruited many Americans, including myself, to this effort.

And no I dont intend to enlist..I intend to exercise my rights as a free person to do as I damned well please.

'Spoken just like a College or Young Republican.

Which makes our point.
