Missouri Congressman Joins Operation Yellow Elephant

Rep. William Lacy Clay, Jr., has Asked The Question:

"I have a question for President Bush," said Clay, who voted against the resolution authorizing Bush to go to war in Iraq. "If you really believe that the war that you started in Iraq is a fight to defeat terrorism and to defend our freedoms, why haven't your girls enlisted?"

Clay said that during World War II, President Franklin Roosevelt's sons enlisted and added: "That is a perfect example of the difference between a truly courageous wartime president and an incompetent chickenhawk who prefers to risk the lives of other American's children."

. . . and the Republican response: Danny Diaz, a spokesman for the Republican National Committee, said: "This clearly crosses the bounds of acceptable political discourse. I think Americans appreciate substantive dialogue on the issues, and clearly the congressman is not capable of offering that up."

OK, Danny Diaz, what's not substantive about national leadership setting a good example for the rest of us?

By the way, Danny, are you healthy, under 40 and at least in the closet? Are you a veteran? Or, have you considered Supporting President Bush to win the Global War on Terrorism through military service? How about Ken Mehlman? If not you and Jenna's beau Henry Hager, then who?
