Columbia to vote on lifting ROTC ban

From the Army Times:

NEW YORK — Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama’s opposition to Columbia University’s ban on the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps has touched off a campus debate.

A vote on whether students favor ending the 40-year-old ban could come as early as this week.

For those anti-war liberals who are so opposed to the ROTC, here's an idea: DON'T JOIN!!

anon- In most cases the schools that do not have ROTC hide behind the "we won't offer it until gays are allowed in The Military" argument. And they go on depriving our Armed Forces of potentially gaining from Our Country's best and brightest from institutions like Columbia.

In no specific order OYE hopes that ROTC is allowed on any campus and that non-heterosexuals can openly serve Our Country.

I'm not opposed to ROTC on college campuses, since like another poster above said if you don't want to join it, then don't. However, I would like to know why the Peace Corps doesn't have a training contingent at colleges, and why they don't get the advertising and recruiting budget that the military gets.
