Senator McCain: A Political Yellow Elephant? NOT!

Here's our take on Senator John McCain [R-AZ], the clear front-runner for the Republican nomination for President.

There's no doubt about Senator McCain's personal courage. He's also set a good example for the rest of us in ways too numerous to list here. We also note that at least two of his sons have signed up [one is at the Naval Academy and the other enlisted in the Marines].

UPDATE: According to Robert Hamer [comment #1], Senator McCain has called on eligible Americans to volunteer for military service.

OYE Comment: We call upon all Presidential candidates to urge their supporters, including campaign contributors and other influential members of our society, to encourage their own sons, if eligible, to consider volunteering for military service at this time, even if they plan other careers later in life.

It takes real leadership to convince people with options to sacrifice for their country; if asked, many will do so. As the saying goes, "Freedom is not Free." Nor is leadership easy.

UPDATE: Here's something from the Yellowest Elephant.

That's actually not true. Go to this link (http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/Issues/9cb5d2aa-f237-464e-9cdf-a5ad32771b9f.htm) and click on the video that says "Message to Our Troops".

At the end of the video he calls on all eligible Americans to volunteer for military service.

Thanks. We'll do an update right now and post the video on another day.

I'm no fan of McCain, but his kids are doing a lot better than Mitt's boys.

If Mr. Romney's campaign doesn't pick up steam his boys will soon have more time on their hands to consider enlisting.
