Right-Wing Activist Harasses Commanders Returning Home from Iraq

Wow.

Elaine Donnelly, of the Center for Military Readiness, has been bothering Army Sgt. Darren Manzella's commanders at Fort Hood, Texas, for three weeks, since Sgt. Manzella told CBS News 60 Minutes that he's not heterosexual, and proved it, at least to the satisfaction of USA Today:

Elaine Donnelly, whose Center for Military Readiness favors a ban on gays, says "skepticism is in order" about reports that they are serving openly without sanctions. She says she has been "bothering" commanders at Manzella's base, Fort Hood, Texas, to take action since the 60 Minutes piece aired. "We have yet to get an answer," she says. "His commanders should be disciplined appropriately for failing to do their duty."

OYE Comment:

Ms. Donnelly would have much more credibility if she, and her organization, were actually encouraging heterosexuals to Be A Man! Enlist! But they're not, as we have noted on this blog. [Search on Donnelly]

Perhaps Sgt. Manzella's commanders are ignoring Ms. Donnelly because they're, like, fighting a war?

How 'bout that? Hat tip to Wonkette and Servicemembers Legal Defense Network.

It is sad to see an organization called "Center for Military Readiness" is more concerned about gays in the armed forces than it is about the well-being of our servicemembers during this dangerous war.
