Showing Us Nothing from the 'Show Me' State

Missouri Young Republican, Greg Porter (grey shirt), has an impressive resumé for a young 'man'. As a student at the University of MO-Kansas City, he served as the Chairman of the Missouri Federation of College Republicans and recently was elected to District 31 Committeeman on the Missouri State Republican Committee. Mr. Porter also has worked on the now former Senator, Jim Talent's (R), re-election campaign. The same Jim Talent that stated in October 2006 that it still would have been a good idea to go into Iraq even if he knew Saddam Hussein possessed no weapons of mass destruction.

Since Mr. Porter was working to keep Jim Talent in office, essentially working to prolong the Iraq War, he now bares the responsibility to help out by picking up a rifle and actually fighting in The War.

We were unable to verify if Greg has any intentions of serving (none of our attempts to contact him were responded to). Mr. Porter is of age to enlist. He is also a rare find- a Young Republican that is trim enough to pass a physical examination (see his peer pictured above in the green shirt for an example of a typical YR specimen). And because he looks relatively comfortable standing close to three women, for convenience purposes, we'll assume he's a heterosexual. We, at OYE, have given up attempting to contact Mr. Porter, but we ask Real Americans to encourage him to Be A Man! Enlist!

"a man may be a patriot without risking his own life or sacrificing his health. There are plenty of lives less valuable."
Mellon

This is the crux of the matter. These "patriots" who support the war think that the lives of others are less valuable.

I'm sure somebody has pointed out to the author of this blog that less than 11% of military personnel self identify as liberal. That number drops to under 3% when you only consider Army and Marine personnel. I also wonder if anybody has ever just up and joined because this blog "exposed" them.

Anonymous #2, can you give me a source for that assertion?

Of course they can't: they just lie, misinform, and misrepresent. More of that drive-by tedium.

it doesn't matter what anonymous #2 says. Of course, man liberals are opposed to this war. So why should people volunteer for a war that they don't believe in? A war of choice? The fact is that with the war going on as long as it is. With KIAs nearing 4,000 and with 27,000 Americans having been wounded in Iraq, the military is hard pressed to find new recruits. Hence, they have to give incentives and bonuses for new recruits; which attract the underprivileged. Of course a member of the upper classes won't be attracted by the bonuses or incentive because he has no need for them.

Conservatives own this war, and rightly they should fight it.

Liberal or otherwise, if young men and women support the war and it's underlying goals, they would enlist and fight to win. The fact that recruiting is going as it is leads me to believe that winning the war isn't a priority.
