Letter: War supporters should go fight

Friday, January 19, 2007

One of your recent letter-writers wants President Bush's private war in Iraq to go on and on.

Like too many fanatical followers of the petty despot, she's "pro-surge." Just send more and more of our young men and women into battle until they — Bush and his supporters — "win" the great war against the Moslem world.

Now, since their war and a victory are so important to the history of mankind, I assume that your letter-writer and others like her are eager to head to Iraq and be maimed or killed to assure the "victory." If you're pro-war, you should be happy to join our troops in giving your lives for the cause. I mean, no sacrifice is too great for a "win" in Iraq.

In a real sense, it's George W. Bush and the pro-war crowd who are cowards and hypocrites, not we anti-war, anti-surge, pro-peace "liberals" — your letter-writer's term for us. We are actually the most conservative of conservatives. What's more conservative than being peacemakers and loving our enemies according to the gospel of Jesus Christ?

The war in Iraq is an evil war. Bush's latest non-strategy for victory is a stupid, demonic piece of arrogance. "The surge?" It simply means more death, maiming, destruction, and chaos in Iraq. It's all wrong.

Very well said, the only way that bush supporters, will serve is to be drafted. As I, posed this question once before, will bush supporters answer the call for a draft, without the twins being drafted? I don't think they will. Time is coming for the bush supporters to put up or shut up. Keep up the good work Karl, You have shut up the bush supporters, that use to come here, with their bullshit.

freder421-

Yeah, they really have shut up.

I still seek contact in advance with College Republicans who are quoted in news stories, using polite e-mails and waiting at least 24 hours, usually more.

And they aren't even trying to discuss it, or explain or justify their positions or inactions.

At least if this war was going somewhere... I feel it is a bad strategy that will not give any positive results. Wrong enemy, wrong strategy...
