Another Opinion Columnist Asks The Question

Here's Bill Gallagher from the Niagara Falls Reporter Asking the Question:

I'm sure droves of College [Republicans,] Young Republicans and Young Americans for Freedom will be lining up at recruitment offices and volunteering for military service to help cover [the] shortfall. I'll make special mention in this space for those who do. Just send us a copy of your military contract.

Bill, any update?

All together now:

Giant Yawn.

Discuss the merits of the war. Or of course the merits of your view against. Bur really, this who is more patriotic nonsense. Or: our side bleeds more red white and blue than yours .... is B.S.

Yes there is strong discord in America. That's how it works in this part of the world. We are allowed to disagree. Even strongly.

You find a slot for this 47 y.o. blogger .... and I'm there. No one dies for me. They die for what they believe in.

I value their contribution, I cherish the gift that they, and their families and friends make.

As it always will be, all my days.

Military recruitment will be obsolete once we perfect robotic soldiers.

Then we'll truly be free.

I don't think we disagree about anything, but you may be misinterpreting our point.

Our national leaders made the decision to go to war. But, why are their strongest supporters not interested in serving?

You're 47; I'm 45. What the Army told me is that I should encourage younger (i.e., eligible) to consider serving. Hence, thanks to The General, Operation Yellow Elephant.

Please, if you want to Support Our Troops effectively, please encourage your eligible relatives and friends, your circle of influence, to consider volunteering, even if they don't plan a full military career.

Our Army just missed its recruiting quota by the largest shortfall since 1979. We really need everyone.

Thank you.

Tone is everything I guess. Yet it seemed so clear?

After lunch, I'll take another looksee. If need be, I'll apologize in advance for the oral/podia insertion.

As one who does have some contact with military age individuals, I can say the ones out west here, in So. Calif.. Aren't too different from the worthless doobie smoking sorts, like I myself was back in the day.

The world has changed, the current need is real. But while the future has arrived, it does not mean that values, integrity, clarity, thought, and vision are on the upswing.

MSM has beat down the image of America, here and abroad. Toss in an entire generation of youth spent parked in front of the MTV. And war is simply a video game with cartoon enemies.

I will keep the message in mind.

G*d Bless, Elmo.

The Marines and soldiers who are about to serve their THIRD tour because of these young republicans are being spat upon in a big way.
