St. Lucie County FL Republican Club - In Focus

It's really wonderful that the good people at the St. Lucie County (FL) Republican Club are hosting a barbecue fundraiser at their local Yacht Club to benefit a college scholarship fund for 17-year-old Anthony Bonna.

Young Mr. Bonna is a committed Young Republican and a serious political junkie, so we're quite pleased that the St. Lucie County Republicans are one of the Thousand Points of Light.

Of course, one wonders why they neglected to inform Mr. Bonna of the excellent college tuition money available for serving in the U.S. military, especially as service in the Global War on Terrorism will certainly boost his inevitable political career.

Let's encourage the St. Lucie County Republican Club to Support Their President!

Sent my letter:

I just read your article about proud Young Republican Anthony Bonna's fundraiser for school. However, I think his tactic is unnecessary: Mr. Bonna should raise the money he needs and serve his country at the same time.

It's a fact that the US Army, the Marines, and the National Guard are all facing recruiting shortfalls, which is making it more difficult to win the war in Iraq. Our soldiers in the field have probably lost count of their tours of duty, and knowing that enlistment is down can't be good for morale. As a Republican, I am sure Mr. Bonna supports the President and will answer the call to enlistment he made at Fort Bragg two weeks ago. Not only is military service good for the country, it's a good way to raise funds for college through the GI Bill. As Mr. Bonna points out "If you want to make decisions that affect the world, you need to really live the world," and service in the miltary will give him the experience he needs.
Mr. Bonna, your country needs you, and I hope you will answer the call.

"It's always been my philosophy to reach as far as you can," said Anthony, who graduated from St. Lucie West Centennial High School last month.

In the Army, you can Be All That You Can Be, Anthony.

Mr. Bonna will best serve this nation and this world by getting an outstanding education at Georgetown. We should all in good spirit wish him well on this exciting journey.

Looky what we have here. A couple of nameless liberal weiners that always have something
"intelligent" to say. It is always easier to criticize those who are doing well from the anonymity of your own home huh? I bet you think you are filling some important role in our society by surfing the web searching for a place where you can bestow upon the rest of us your pointless meandering cutdowns. Well then, let me commend you on a shitty job done well. Lets thank God for young students like Anthony that do not prefer to be a nameless bitch. Lets also pray to whoever it is you pray to that none of our young people follow in your footsteps. I am sure Mr. Bonna is aware of any and all opportunities that may await him in the armed services. But be aware that thanks to our great country it is his right and privelege to choose. For that nameless soul that wrote
"he's probably gay so he can't join", could you be any more of a jackass? Not that Anthony is gay, but I think you should know that our armed services has recently adopted the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy which allows homosexuals to serve in our miltary without discrimatation. But in all of your obvious infinite political wisdom I am sure you already know that.

Wow,
It is disgusting to hear how you people feel about a young man who is really doing something with his life, and is so passionate about something that has so much to do with each and every one of us. It makes me sick how you can sit hear only to judge and ridicule him for following his dream, something that most of you never put forth such an effort to do. I am not going to sit here and critisize the democratic party because I am better then that. You have purposely degraded one of the best young men I know only to satisfy your misery. You all need to GROW UP and concentrate on making your lives better (maybe Mr.Bonna can lecture you on goal setting) and who knows, Maybe a young person from your political party will be as succesful as Mr.Bonna.
Sincerely,
Jessie Ellen

My views are as liberal as they come, and I think this is a seriously sad display. Republican or not, I would like for someone who is a future leader of this country to be educated, beyond learning how to pull a trigger.

I feel sorry for these outspoken, uneducated loud mouths, who have nothing better to do with their time, that have tried to spread their negativity! Their families should be ashamed of the way they raised them! It's because of people like this that this world is in the trouble it is.

Continue to strive and follow your beliefs my little cousin, you will rise above all and make a difference in this world!
I am so proud of you! God bless you!!
