Private Jenna

USA Today now urges Jenna Bush to consider setting an example of national leadership.

Commentators are now expressing the spirit of Operation Yellow Elephant, even without the name.

Even in Ashland, Oregon.

I've already written to Ms. Bush directly (Ms. Jenna Bush, The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington DC 20500) to encourage her to consider serving.

Karl that's Ashland OR not OK but I wrote that nice Mr. Ashghar and his editor a letter anyway.

Bravo Mr. Ashghar,

I found the link to your article at
http://operationyellowelephant.blogspot.com/

We at Operation Yellow Elephant are trying mightily to get young Republicans to enlist, alas to little avail. The effort was started by the venerable Jesus General JC Christian himself the winner of the 2004 Koufax Award for the Best Humor blog. His website is here:

http://patriotboy.blogspot.com/

We do it through humor and sarcasm but don't let the snark fool you. We are deadly serious about this effort. As a car owner who lives more than a mile from the closest grocery store I don't want to see the Middle East, the area that determines the world's oil prices, the world's gas station so to speak, go up in the flames of an internecene Islamic war because of President's Bush ghastly mistake.

Our leaders have a choice to make soon. Either we privately admit failure, publicly declare victory and get out of Iraq or we do something about the recruitment and retention crisis in the US Army. If Republicans won't sign up, and they haven't in numbers that alleviate that crisis, then we'll have to have a draft.

It doesn't look right now like that's in the cards. A few weeks ago I figured Rove's calling Dems weak-kneed
appeasers willing to offer Al Qaeda counseling was the first volley in a summer long PR offensive by the Repub
surrogate machine that would culminate in a 9/11 speech by Bush at Ground Zero breaking his campaign promise and calling for a draft to finish the mission In Iraq.

Rove would love that. He'd love to divide this nation in half as badly as it was during the Vietnam War. After all Nixon won in 1968 and kicked McGovern's butt in 1972 with
that strategy. Never mind what a disaster it was for all of us as a nation.

But now Rove has other problems and the Repub smear machine looks like it's going to be tied up for too long defending his behavior to make that strategy work. Maybe that's why we've seen no firm denials of the leaked British memo that says they will withdraw from Iraq in the spring and we will reduce our force levels to 66,000 troops.

When push comes to shove with this bunch, nothing, not the truth, national security, winning wars, future American prosperity, our own laws, or Iraq's misery supersedes their quest for power. It's a shame too because as they drive the train off the rails going as fast as they can we're all just passengers along for the ride.

Thanks again and please check out Operation Yellow Elephant and the General's blog. I think you'll like what you see and if you have any suggestions, like Ross Perot we're all ears.

TrueBlue Patriotically Yours,

Mark Garrity

Here's an example of College Republicans who are trying to set an example, but who are being blocked by the French. The SFSU College Republicans need our support!

The Frenchies are trying to prevent SFSU's College Republicans from answering the highest of callings by protesting military recruiters on campus and by proposing to ban all military recruiters from public high-schools and college campuses.

Says SFSU CR Leigh Wolfe: "I wish they had a little more appreciation for what our troops are doing overseas. They’re fighting for us and dying to protect us at home and (the protesters) are pretty much anti-anything.”

Robert Journey, Treasurer of SFSU College Republicans is nukular: "Don't give me that bulls--t that 'we're doing it because the military discriminates' -- that's just a front. These lefties would still conjure up something to get recruiters out. Lefties couldn't care less that 'their brothers and sisters are going to be sent to Iraq to die for oil!' The only thing they care about is the destruction of the US Military and the US, just like their communist counterparts in other countries. I'm sick and tired of people trying to undermine the war efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan."

These poor guys want to sign up so bad, they even use cute little military insignia icons and ranks on their message board.

OYE must do an end run around the Frenchies and get the recruiters to these young patriots so they, too, can fight and die for us! Send them words of encouragement, send them a message from a recruiter, send them directions to local recruiting offices. Then send them Treats for Troops.

Somewhere out there (I can't find the link), a blogger suggested that if Jenna won't enlist, the least she can do is become a Grable-esque pin-up for the boys in Iraq. Oh, if only I could photoshop!

Wow. Am I embarrassed.

If anyone wants to make a Jenna pin-up poster, I think this picture of Jenna with some University of Michigan college republicans is a good starting point - her clothes are halfway off already.

But I thought Jenna was already doing her part. And her sister Barbara too.

I think a biopsy of Jenna's liver might put her into "4-F" status. Not that I'm a doctor but those keggers can mess you up pretty bad.
Just sayin'...

are you serious about this or not? I am confused because I thought we wanted them to wet themselves but we also don't want to let them kill more brown people like they will do if they have more troops but maybe it is better for them to be killing brown people far away than typing about killing brown poeple at home?

I wouldn't worry too much about any of these people joining the service...

Wow, so I wonder which member of ISO/SAW "doe" is? Oh the anonymity! I have a pretty good idea though, so why don't you come drop by our table or message board, and then perhaps discuss your mental disorder with us?

Some of us in the club are currently serving in the military or have served. Many of us are serving domestically in government. What are you doing? (not like it matters, since the US is all about freedom of choice, but I'd like to know).

Here's an ignorant opposite question for you: Why don't you go become a human shield like a good little lefty?

By the way, most of the military service men and women are Republican -- perhaps we need an Operation Yellow Donkey to fill a quota? Or, maybe we can have "Operation affirmative action: more Dems in Military" ???

Have fun with your cute little plans. Bye!

Thanks for the kind words, Rob. Sorry, though - you don't know me and I only know you through your manly online essays. You're almost as entertaining as the General.

A word of advice: You and your fellow College and Young Republicans are in danger of creating "memes." (It hurts me even to type such a French word). To wit: "Some of us in the club are currently serving in the military or have served." and "most of the military service men and women are Republican."

Don't thank me. Just keep entertaining me. And get a prominent link to http://www.military.com/Recruiting/Home on that site, would ya?

Regarding the SFSU college republicans:

2 of their officers are currently enlisted. Furthermore, they will be commissioning into the Officer Corps upon graduating SFSU.

Sorry to ruin your day :(
