Young Republicans National Convention 2007 Is On!
The Young Republicans National Convention is now taking place at the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood, Florida [between Miami and Fort Lauderdale].
Here's what the South Florida Sun-Sentinel has to say:
They've set aside time for fireworks, sun and sand, and a night on South Beach, but those weren't the features that enticed hundreds of twenty- and thirty-somethings to South Florida for four days this week.
For them, the real lure is hours and hours of politics.
The only mention of Iraq is in the Comments.

are they not just the cutest? Put their ass in kahki and ship 'em all to the gulf...war will be over in a week..trust me on this!
OYE video the have on the Internet is a clear signal of their intent to deceive. The National Guard showed up as people were entering the Duncan Hunter lunch. YRNC 2007 announced the booth and it received the largest ovation of the entire week. When people left the lunch they had left. Of course, no one had been there yet. They were all in side a room and didn't know they were there. If the booth was open when they left, YRs would have lined up.
OYE is following the number one rule in Democrat politics: when you don't have a real case to stand on, lie, lie and lie some more.
YRNC 2007 would like to thank you for your $500 donation. We will be using it to make a donation to the Republican nominee, provided that nominee is committed to keeping our troops in Iraq. I know you will be happy knowing how well your money will be spent!
It's amazing that NO ONE with OYE has ever served in the military. They "claim" it for medical reasons; however, I have a credible source that tells me that is NOT true.
Did you see that video? It shows that the people involved with OYE are less than educated. The guy on the video could barely complete a sentence.
$500 out of the hands of the anti-America liberals and into the hands of the pro-America conservatives. Great deal!

Your source is not credible. In my case, I'm now too old to serve.

You're most welcome. We certainly hope that the "our troops" includes the strongest supporters of our national civilian political leaders who send them there.
So, Marx, prove that at least one of your "contributors" has served in the military. Oh, and just because you're too old to serve now, doesn't mean you never could have. So basically what you're saying, Marx, is that you're a coward, just not right now.

Our most active male contributors have applied to serve in our military, at various times, but were not accepted. We ourselves have done what we ask everyone eligible to serve who supports the war to do: Contact a military recruiter.
Here's my story:
I graduated from college in 1982 and spoke with the Army and the Marine Corps, filling out forms, taking tests, etc.
I passed all of them, but got the distinct impression that they weren't really all that interested in me. [Yes, there were times in our history when our military could pick and choose.]
Perhaps it was because I went to a liberal Northeastern college and they were focusing on prospects whom they thought would be more likely to serve a full 20-year career [which didn't include such schools, I guess], maybe I wasn't athletic enough, whatever. I don't know exactly.
I got the message and did not pursue it, nor did they contact me to follow-up. [That would definitely not be happening today.]
And I found another way to serve my country.
Interest in the military returned to me later in life, in the mid-1990s, but by then I was too old [maximum age was 34-or-under]. Since then, I have worked with the military, but not in uniform.
Even after Iraq, I did register on a U.S. Army Reserve recruiting site [they have the oldest maximum age, 41-and-under] and got a nice letter saying I'm too old, but I could best help them by encouraging younger people to consider military service. Operation Yellow Elephant follows from this.
I'm still in good [not perfect] health and try to stay in shape, but I have no desire to waste a recruiter's time unless the recruiter thinks there's a possibility. I'm in their databases and they know how to contact me.
