Barnacle Bob: Do You Support Our Troops?

Barnacle Bob still thinks that Operation Yellow Elephant is a a single, flimsy talking point taken to ad nauseum extremes. Unless you tell him up front that you agree with him (i.e., support the war), he stops reading.

However, his comment provoked one simple google search, for any other citizens initiative supporting military recruitment in general. Nothing Pentagon-funded, etc., but any other blog that encourages real Americans to consider military service. [In this case, regardless of their political affiliation or opinions about the war, if any.]

I couldn't find anything. There's plenty on "Counter-Recruitment," but nothing supporting military service by Real Americans.

Well, Barnacle Bob, you may think we're a single, flimsy talking point taken to ad nauseum extremes, but isn't anyone who supports the war even bothering to try to support military recruitment?

From Crooks & Liars:

Malkin crosses the line in Santa Cruz

Here's a video from FOX & Friends with Cody James, a student at the university who wanted to see the recruiters and says the protesters were not violent.

Whatever your beliefs are regarding military recruiting at colleges, Michelle Malkin crosses the line of decency by printing the telephone numbers of the students that formed the protest. They have been receiving death threats non-stop. An emailer wrote me and said:

"The protest was reported on by Hannity and OReilly. Michelle Malkin put actual students' phone numbers on her blog and they've been getting death threats nonstop."

In her update to the post Michelle writes:

"SAW has removed the contact information from its press release and is now lying about the fact that it made the info publicly available on the Internet. I am leaving it up. If you are contacting them, I do not condone death threats or foul language. As for SAW, my message is this: You are responsible for your individual actions. Other individuals are responsible for theirs. Grow up and take responsibility."

Obviously the death threats are emanating from her blog and she knows it. Malkin understands the nature of the fear and outrage she causes. Will she take responsibility when somebody gets hurt? Here's another example of the fear-mongering she causes. Read Cathy Young's Boston Globe column.

Here's an article about the affair.

Another email: "She REPRINTED the numbers. The death threats have started again with a vengeance." She's basically blaming the victim, saying "we asked for it." But we only sent the contact info to the PRESS (not her site) along with our press release and then we specifically asked HER to remove them, when there were death threats (we've published some on our site), she's refusing."

"The basic thing is, she's trying to make us sound like lunatic vandals and criminals so that her fanatical audience feels justified in sending us death threats. The action was completely peaceful and it was blown out of proportion. Malkin says: "SAW is trying to cover its tracks again and has wiped the info from the cached version." Does she have any understanding of how google cache works? We don't have the power to "wipe it."

(If you contact her please don't stoop to the levels that her readers are.)

BTW, Karl has a great message for war protesters. Don't get stupid out there and forget what you're really protesting.

I am what you can define as a liberal. massachusetts. state university degree. churchgoing agnostic secular humanist. non-violent protester to boot.

Even I am objectively pro military. I was fixing to join after Afghanistan, Seabees, high ASVAB score and a college degree etc...

anyhow, then we invaded Iraq, and, well, I'm not sorry that my life isn't on the line to cover for a certain someone's disgusting lies and massive failures.

We need leadership equal to their sacrifice if recruitment is to succeed.

not liars.

anyhthing less is blood on our hands

Wow Karl, I'm not sure if I should feel flattered or disturbed by your continued unsolicited responses to my informed and researched opinion that this blog is "a single, flimsy talking point taken to ad nauseam extremes."

After all, I first made that remark on a totally different blog, and I made it six months ago. The host of that blog did not post anything about else OWE until you felt compelled to make a belated response here last week. Had he not, I would have never had the misfortune of visiting this site a second time.

I am still of that opinion that this site is a single, flimsy talking point taken to ad nauseam extremes. Furthermore, after my interactions with you and some additional research, I've concluded that OWE is indeed purely partisan in its nature, intent, and content. That you readily deny such an obvious fact makes me hesitant to participate in a dialog here. The Internet is a very big place, and my time is limited.

If you seek an honest and intellectual dialog and discussion about West/East policy and actions, I'm game. But from what I see here, only the latter is apparent in your posts. That is sad, because "a mind is a terrible thing to waste."

Thanks, Barnacle Bob.

We've offered several opportunities for serious engagement and discussion, but understand that your time is limited.

'All the best.

What is OWE and is it in anyway affliated with OYE?

OWE is a typo.
