Military Recruiting Lead: Orange County, California, August 30
Attention Military Recruiters:The Young Republicans of Orange County, California, are hosting a Mixer on Thursday, August 30, at 7:00 p.m. at Ling & Louie's, 85 Fortune Drive, Irvine, CA [at the Irvine Spectrum].
As OCYR President Shawn Fago states in his President's Message, the Mission of the OCYRs is to help elect Republicans to office. That's where you come in.
All over the country, real Americans cannot help but wonder why so many of the future leaders of President Bush's party, all healthy heterosexuals 41-or-under and eligible to serve, cannot find the courage within themselves to Support Our President to WIN the Global War on Terrorism in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere by volunteering for military service.
We understand: Not a single civilian political leader in our great nation has publicly called on real Americans eligible to serve to Be A Man! Enlist!, even if they plan other careers later in life. Our nation's political leadership has delegated this serious responsibility to military recruiters and this blog.
You certainly know that the future of our two-party system depends on credible national leadership. It's up to eligible Young Republicans to restore credibility to their Party by leading from the front: Not in the 'War' of Ideas, but in The War on Terror!

Karl- I'm not so sure you posting this lead to recruiters is a good idea. When the men in uniform arrive there will be a mass scramble inside Ling & Louie's to get out the back door. Don't you remember the 1979 The Who concert in Cincinnati when 11 fans were crushed to death?

You're quite right about the "mass scramble," but let's think this through:
All the male Young Republicans will be scrambling en masse out the back door, leaving just the female Young Republicans to greet Our Troops and thank them for their service.
While any subsequent happenings must necessarily result from the voluntary choices of consenting adults, I think it would be an excellent way to help encourage male YRs to Be A Man! Enlist!

Well, according to right-wing columnist Lisa de Pasquale, a military recruiter claimed that only 1 in 5 prospective recruits qualify for military service. So apparently all those pro-war neocons who have not served, are not serving, and have no intention of serving are gay, mentally deficient, or physically unqualified. Funny then that so many seem to have little problem engaging in fraternity antics, playing sports, etc. I'm reminded of Pat Buchannon's claim that he had bad knees, and that is why he did not serve, yet he used to boast of his jogging routine. Or Limbaugh that could not serve because of a non-documented pilonidal cyst talking about the times he and his other draft-dodging righty pals like Scalia play football. This is decades, we should recall, after the conflicts these chickenhawks avoided. And, as a biologist, I can tell you that age makes physical problems worse, not better, especially if you abuse your body like Limbaugh has done, with his obesity and hillbilly heroin problem...
'All the more reason for those College and Young Republicans who are eligible to serve to Be A Man! Enlist!
Those who are not eligible, for any reason, are off the hook for Operation Yellow Elephant. We wish them all the best and hope that they serve America any way they can.
