Prized catch for recruiters?

Jenna Bush enlists?

At a press conference in Washington yesterday, Presidential daughter Jenna Bush announced that she has enlisted to serve in the United States Marine Corp.
"I’ve come to realize that stories and pictures of me being care-free and partying while the sons and daughters of other Americans fight my father’s war may be sending a bad message."
Ms. Bush, 24, then answered questions from reporters, even cracking some jokes at the expense of her father, President Bush. “Hopefully all my records won’t get lost or shredded like my dad’s,” she laughed.
Jenna’s Grandmother, former first lady Barbara Bush, issued a statement from the family home in Kennebunkport, “This makes me proud of Jenna, and I’m encouraging my other grandchildren to do the same. When it comes to examples of people stepping up and pitching in like a commoner, I want Americans to think of
us Bushes.”

Okay, maybe not...but it's kind of slow and a laugh never hurts.

If it war supporter's duty to enlist in the army, I fail to see how the analogy breaks when we'd ask those who favors higher taxes to violuntarily contribute more.

If you think it's appropriate that the government demands more wealth from others, why not pay twice as much as you do now in taxes? Socialized medicine and other projects of dubious or long-term negative benefits would be a lot more practical if only supporters were funding them.

Wow, slowpitch, that's great.

Slowpitch - How much did you pay last year in taxes as a student at Iowa State?

I'm willing to double that sum right now if you get your sorry "conservative, Iowa" college ass enlisted into your precious war right now.

What do you say?

Stop giving my alma mater a bad name. Head down to the Army recruiting station at North Grand Mall. 2801 Grand Ave. I gave them a call and they're expecting you.

Tony, nice work thanks for that.

I wonder if Slowpitch, or Nate Hertel as me and his mom like to call him, will visit your buddies at the recruiting station?

He is kind of busy at his blogs, posting about Sean Penn being an idiot, writing "inflammatory messages to the campus paper", you know, real keyboard warrior type stuff.

We'll see...

Slowpitch - let me pitch this to you slow, so you can't miss it. One reason those who favor higher taxes for the rich do so is because IF THEY ARE NOT RICH, THEY DON'T HAVE THE EXTRA MONEY TO SEND TO THE GOVERNMENT. They can barely pay their bills. The rich, on the other hand, have the money. The government has to get its money somewhere. So if you're going to pay for something, like a needless war, you'd best tax the rich.

As for the war, everybody, rich or poor, Dem or Repub, has an ass they can put on the line for the Dear Leader. It's not like the tax situation, where some people can't pay more without suffering. EVERYBODY can pay the price Bush now demands - service, and maybe death. And we don't discriminate - rich and poor College Repubs are welcome to contact us for sign up information. Since the College Repubs were most eager for this war, let them jump out of the plane first.

I actually urged that Miss Bush consider enlisting in the U.S. Army, principally because of its Women's Mud-Wrestling Team.

But I know she'll be a Real Marine anyway.
