Courtesy of Atrios:Seems the Young Republicans are herding themselves off to another watering hole where they hope to get totally smashed and watch a game. From the Young Republican web site;
Young Republicans at the Phillies

Got plans on Aug. 16?
Want plans?
Join the Young Republicans at the Phillies game that night!

The Phils will be playing the Washington Nationals starting at 7.05p (as usual).
Happy Hour at McFadden's beforehand (6p - 7p)! As an added bonus, the National
Anthem will be sung by University City's St. Francis deSales Choir.

A good excuse to see a ball game!

I understand all of the Young Republicans will be signing up to fight in Iraq that night, so even if you are a Democrat or Independent, go to the Phillies game that night and cheer them on in their "noble cause."

Gee, I sure hope that someone has called the local recruiting offices. They may need to call in extra support to handle all the young patriots...

first thing I'm doing in the AM is callign the recruiters and letting them know some YR's are ready to enlist!

Man, you Democrats sure are funny! HAR HAR!
I'd like to see your C.O. cards; I bet you don't have the balls to get one.

Hit too close to home, Suzanne? Let's put it more simply. All sorts of Young Republicans in this country are in support of what I see as a failed war. Yet they're not signing up to serve in what George Bush calls a "noble cause." Sure, they'll sit at their computers and go on the internet to slime people like Cindy Sheehan, who lost her son in Iraq, but you don't see all that many Young Republicans signing up for this war.

Recruitment is down. There are severe problems facing the military recruiters, chiefly that most Americans have come around to the notion that this is a failed war. But Young Republicans are still overwhelmingly in support of the War in Iraq. So why don't they enlist? And if they are all together at the Phillies game, what more perfect time is there?

Well, let's join the fun! All are encouraged to encourage the GOP spawnlings to join up and do their duty to flag and apple pie!

From Ignoreland's posting at that site:

Operation Yellow Elephant Singalong!

Oh, Suzanna, oh won't you die for me?
I'm goin' to Crawford Texas with a bimbo on my knee...

I stand so tough, I am a wimp
A bleeding chickenhawk
With anal zits that left a limp
And All I do is talk.

I tried to join, but couldn't find
The Army recruiting post.
And when I got there, well they all said
They wanted brown boys most.

I make too much, but I am poor
To leave my kids behind.
They have to have a Senator
To raise them, don't you mind.

Is there a "Jumbotron" or electronic billboard you can pay to advertise on during this game?

I live in Los Angeles (go ahead, mock me) but wish all good fun at the game. I just wrote the following for no good reason, but post it here anyway: (if you can read it aloud in a Keith Jackson or Harry Carry style).

Neo Mythic Sporting Network Presents Highlights From the Game of the Week

Bush drops back to pass--oh, he fumbled the soldier, picks it up, throws it way downfield where it is blown up. Bush runs to the sidelines and snorts the sidelines...

...and now Coach Dick "Karl" Caligula sends in a new play. Bush shakes his head and a baby flies out. He picks up the baby and...oh gosh, isn't this cute...he hands the baby to a mother wearing an American flag driving an SUV listening to Rush Limbaugh and eating a Mad Cow Sandwich while humming a gospel song. What's this? The woman leans forward and promises Bush he can throw the baby at the bad guys when the baby turns eighteen! No, wait, she is actually saying that no, he cannot have her new baby, but she knows where there are some other babies he can use. What a lady!

(Second Half)
Bush is running out of soldiers...but he looks more determined than ever. He searches the stands for bodies--fans--but most of the 18 to 39 year olds with the GOP buttons have either gone to the bathrooms or are at the refreshment stands, enjoying their freedom. Bush looks back to the field--he squints: yes, he's moving forward towards the janitor at the end of the field. What a patriotic janitor! Bush carries, wait...Jesus is lifting the janitor downfield to the huddle. Bush breaks the huddle, they approach the line...a bit of trivia here: Bush has never carried the ball himself. The soldier is snapped, Bush back pedals, back pedals, still back peddling--he heaves the janitor--oh, the other side is running! They are hiding! No one can see them! The play works! The janitor stumbles toward the goal line, which is in a foreign country. Oh, somebody just shot him. Oh, well. He already scored, so no harm there.

(Final seconds)
3, 2, 1! It's over! Mission Accomplished! Yay! They better send somebody down to clean up the field, there's another game tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that...

And that's it from the Neo Mythic Sporting Network!

I am doing my part. I had the following letter printed in The Oregonian today.

Where to find new recruits

The recent article about the Army's unsuccessful recruiting efforts caused me to think about what the recruiters might be doing wrong. I have concluded that they were trying to sign up high school students when they should be aiming for an older crowd. There is a perfect group that they should target: the Oregon Young Republicans who are in college. The Oregon Young Republicans are avowedly strong supporters of the invasion and occupation of Iraq; they seem constantly to proclaim their patriotism. No doubt they are willing to put their beliefs on the line by enlisting in the military and going to Iraq.

I am sure that the Army recruiters can locate their Web page and sign up dozens of new recruits right away.

As a veteran I have only one thing to say to those punks.

I been there done that( all four years of it)

Stop talking through your ass and acting like you are
protecting America. Put your ass in uniform in Iraq cleaning up
the mess your daddy made.

So my advice to you Young Replublicans either sign up yourself
or shut the f**k up.

David Bell (Phillies third baseman)'s cousin was killed in Iraq a couple of weeks ago. It would be a fitting tribute to his sacrifice for some of the Young Republicans to announce their decision to enlist at the game.
